Interesting. This is my first autofocus camera. Maybe I'm trusting autofocus too much? I'll try again with a smaller aperture and maybe do a manual focus. Maybe it's just a learning curve, but I have this camera with all of this automation and it seems that, more often than not, I'm shooting in manual mode and now considering using manual focus. With my AE-1 and A-1 bodies I rarely used the automated modes. I was hoping the 300D would be better, but it seems that when I use an automated mode I'm not happy with the settings it chooses. Do you folks with the professional cameras use the automated settings very often? How about autofocus?Or do I just need to get better at understanding the automated capabilities and use them properly.

The per country limit for countries is 7% and for dependency is 2% . I am not sure what the exact definition of dependency is. The FAM manual lists dependencies. Greenland is listed as a dependency.

I went to the infopass to inquire about the "additional review" letter I got from TSC. Officer did some search and told me the following " this case is in transit to an officer TODAY, just 30 minutes before. you dont have to worry about this notice". He also said that call us back in 45 days .. I did fax all the details to the Senator but am not sure whether this resulted from the inquiry.

I have sent two pre-stamped envelops with the application. This is at NSC.
Fortunately, they have approved it in a week and sent the AP documents using the envelops. I have recevied the documents on the next day.
If you have a valid reason, it doesn't hurt requesting the expedite process with a proper evidence.

I got my answer, the very next question talks about I-140 withdrawl and its impact on the AOS application if job changed using portabiliity within 180 days of filing.

Overall, what I feel is, anyone can screw up. There is no gaurantee on immigration lawyers. Immigration law is very complicated, every decision is made on a case to case basis, and there are no proper defined protocols, most immigration laws when implemented, these lawyers deal with them on trial and error basis, so when INS changes their ways, these lawyers seem to have screwed up, but then these lawyers adapt to the change, unfortunately the immigrant suffers. Thats how this system is.

States accumulate spill over from Q1 to Q3 but doesnot apply. Those extra visas will not be given to any one .. Once gone from quarter then it cannot be given to any one. In last quarter it will go to Eb2 India.

Well, most of us July filers--including myself--are little stressed out due the Receipt Notice issues, but now I have learned how to live happy even at hard times. Here is how I imagine the NSC center works. A busy morning at NSC mail room.:)
Mail room Clerk: Good morning officer! Today's quota of I-485 Receipt Entry is 3000. In what order I have to pull the 3000 applications from the mound of applications?
Officer: Order? Are you out of your mind? Did you forget my instructions? Go to Rack # 10 and pull 1000 applications, and go to Rack # 15 and pull 1200 applications, and finally go to Rack # 21 and pull 700 applications. It will take just take 10 minutes. If you sort all these applications, it will take hours and hours. Try to be a smart man. OK?
Clerk: Yes sir, I will do it 10 minutes.
(Clerks completes the officier's instruction and comes back with the applications, but seems confused)
Clerk:Sir, it looks like we pulled only 2900 applications, but still we need 100 more.
Officer: What? How did it happend? OK. Let me think. Go to the 'Rejected Applications' rack and pull 100 applications, closing your eyes. It is important you close your eyes and pull the application. Understand?
Clerk: Yes, sir.
(The clerk gets the 100 applications from the 'Rejected Applications' rack)
Clerk: Sir, I am done.
Officer: OK. Now, one final time. Count the applications and make sure we have only 3000 applications.
(The clerk counts the applications again....)
Clerk: In a panic voice, says, "Sir, I don't know how this happend, but we have 3600 applications instead of 3000, but I did't make any mistake, Sir.

Anybody out there with Self and Spouse EAD Card approved from NSC, but Self actual physical EAD card arrived but Spouse physical EAD card did not arrive at the usual time say 5 days after approval.

I ahve also heard about cards being stolen from the Kentucky facility. So, anybody out there who had to file for a replacement card for self or spouse.
"Card production ordered" is the first status that you will see and then it will change to "Approval notice sent". Tentatively, Your card will be postmarked with the date when your status changed to "Approval notice sent" and it takes upto 4 calendar days to receive the card through mail. Usually, approval notice goes to attorney on file for 765, if you have filed G28 otherwise you will receive it. Call USCIS and find out whether the card is ordered then ask for follow-up actions and decide whether to file for replacement card. There is no separate form for replacement cards - you will still be using same 765 form; I guess, same processing time applies - you may expedite by taking infopass after receiving the receipt notice for your replacement card by providing the letter from the employer. Hope this helps.

try work from home jobs. Since you have filed 485 there wont be any out of status issue. If your 140 is approved and EAD is valid you can work full time /part time or sit without any work.

The desperation of your post suggests that you don't need direction, you need therapy. We just need someone to give us some assurance that we will all be fine and live to see the light of the day on Tuesday even if DoS sends out a revised Visa Bulletin. At this time, I too need similar assurance from someone. Can anybody help?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have signed all the forms and included all the documents. Wrote a cover letter listing all the documents in the packet(like Affidavits, W2's, Passport copy etc.), but in a hurry forgot to sign the cover letter.

Who are the guys making more than 250K? Why are they stuck in retrogression?
I am assuming that if you are salaried employee and making more than 250K, you should be at executive level qualified for EB1 visa - which is current for all countries.
These folks are most likely doctors...doctors salaries are in that range.

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) Visa Bulletin for January 2008 contains more bad news for Indian nationals in the EB2 category. The cutoff date for EB2, India, retrogressed by two additional years, to January 1, 2000. Moreover, the prediction contained in the Visa Bulletin for EB2, India, is that the annual limit could be reached within the next few months. If this occurs, the category will become "unavailable" for the remainder of the fiscal year.
The explanation for this is simply that demand for visa numbers by the USCIS for EB2, India, adjustment-of-status cases far exceeds supply

My take on the permanent solution:
1. Recapture lost visa numbers
It will need change in law. Cannot be done without senate and congress approval
2. Medical tests are going to be valid indefinitely
Possibily but cannot be a big news, especially if we are talking about near term good news
3. Ppl who've worked for X years automatically can apply for I-485

Don't we have a popular Beedi( a type of cigarette ) in India with the image of Lord Ganesh on its cover . It is very very popular beedi brand in Karnataka . Is this allowed , I never saw any backlash against this in India itself . Strange that this kind of backlash happens more in the west than India.

I don't agree with what mbawa2574 has to say,but I certainly disagree banning mbawa for expressing views. I think, mbawa2574 is well within limits of posting anything that could hurt IV image/goals. ( On this thread, I mean).
What's the damage caused to your effort?( apart from deleting threads )
I'd rather help channel his thoughts and energies in a direction that helps IV than ban him.

Just because anyone can post anything on IV website to get visibility on the homepage, its not ok to abuse the resources of the organization. We did not create IV to promote democracy or freedom of expression, there are ample of other sites to promote democracy and freedom of expression, you are free to use those resource at your liking. IV website is for a single purpose of achieving the goals we have set for the organization. You can find our goals on the website. And anything that conflicts with our goal will be removed. Its easy to use terms like democracy, freedom of expression etc to defend actions that malign the good effort put in by others. If she has filed 485 as a dependent then she is a dependent though out the process. Once you are in trouble and 485 gets declined - hers also invalid. Both will be illegal!!!
From what I know she can still work for 180 days while the 485 is investigated. You can appeal against the denial.
